The report provided an update on progress with the preparation of the new Local Plan and sought endorsement of the arrangements for the procurement of consultants.
Following consideration by the Planning and Transportation Advisory Board, the Cabinet Member for Planning and Transportation resolved that:
1) the overall programme for the Local Plan production be endorsed;
2) specialist work on population and growth projections for the Borough to 2013 be commissioned to underpin the Local Plan evidence base and provide a basis for considering future growth options; and
3) the joint commissioning with Maidstone Borough Council of specialist work to prepare a new Strategic Housing Market Assessment for the Maidstone and Malling area and to refresh the West Kent Strategic Housing Market Assessment for the remainder of the Borough be endorsed.
